WILMAR -- The St. Cloud Icebreakers scored twice in the first 3:17 of the game and forced the Willmar girls hockey team into a hole it couldn't climb out of Friday.
The Cardinals lost the Central Lakes Conference and season home opener, 6-0.
Emily Ruegemer scored for the Icebreakers (a hockey-only co-op consisting of St. Cloud Apollo, Cathedral and now Tech) at the 2:25 mark of the first period, drilling a lefthanded shot from 25 feet. Katie Haus followed 42 seconds later.
St. Cloud added three goals in the second and a power-play goal in the third.
Each goal was scored by a different player. The Icebreakers flinged 41 shots on Willmar goalie Baylie Young, who recorded 35 saves.
