Willmar defeats Centennial 32-31 on criteria in state wrestling consolation semi-finals, takes on Moorhead at 5 p.m.

Willmar defeated Centennial today in the consolation team semi-finals on criteria 32-31 at the Class AAA state wrestling state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Miley wins in consolation semi-finals — Willmar's Austin Miley works on a single-leg takedown Thursday in the 132-pound match with Centennial. Miley ended up pinning Austin Miller at 5:02. It was the Cardinal juniors 100th career victory and raised his season record to 38-4. Willmar went on to win the match on a tiebreaker after both teams tied 31-all.

Willmar defeated Centennial today in the consolation team semi-finals on criteria 32-31 at the Class AAA state wrestling state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.The match ended in a 31-31 tie when Willmar's Cass Herzog lost for the first time this year on a 3-2 decision.Willmar won the match on criteria, 32-3. It was the second time in the tournaments this year that the Cardinals won by criteria.Willmar advanvces to the consolation championship against Moorhead. This match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Navarro scores decision in consolation semi-final match — Willmar's Estavan Navarro drives Centennials' Amakale Tileskjor off the mat on the way to winning a 5-1 decision that put the Cardinals up 18-9 Thursday in the Class AAA consolation semifinals at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Willmar survived a late rally by the Cougars to win on a tiebreaker, there second such win in their last three matches.
