WILLMAR - The Willmar girls basketball team rebounded from deficits time and again but couldn't get all the way back and lost 44-39 to Alexandria in a Central Lakes Conference game on Monday at Willmar High School.

Heidi Sellmann led Willmar with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

"Heidi stepped up big tonight, scoring and rebounding," said Willmar head coach Dustin Carlson. "Tonight, we grew up as a team. We got down 10 multiple times and responded each time."

Sellmann hit a 3-pointer with less than a minute to play to cut the lead to three but Alexandria held off the rally.

"We just had too many turnovers to get over the hump," Carlson said. "I'm proud of the kids responding to adversity."
