ALEXANDRIA -- The Willmar Cardinals outhit Alexandria on Thursday, but their fielding cost them in a 3-0 Central Lakes Conference loss on Thursday.
Willmar managed seven hits in a pitcher's duel between Hanna Pederson and Dani Bany, but the Cardinals made three errors and stranded five runners.
Pederson pitched six innings and struck out 10. But she only allowed one earned run, which was created by two of Alexandria's three hits.
Bany managed to strike out seven Willmar hitters.
Haylee Hastad and Chelsey Wierschem collected two hits each for Willmar, while Katie Switzer, Chelsey Hammann and Bevin Williams all had singles.

Thursday's loss puts the Willmar record at 7-4 in the conference and 9-8 overall.
