BUFFALO -- The 2010 volleyball season ended for the Willmar Cardinals Wednesday with a 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 25-13 loss to Buffalo in the first round of the Section 2AAA tournament.
Willmar finishes with an 8-16 record.
"The girls actually played really well," said Willmar coach Terrin DeBoer. "We served aggressively and blocked really well. We gave up a couple of runs and we couldn't keep up with it."
Six players served at least one ace for Willmar and Casey Marcus had two. At the net, Emily Minnick recorded eight ace blocks and Hailey Vreeman had six.
Offensively, Minnick paved the way with nine kills and Katie Lippert added six. Vreeman and Addy Nelsen had 11 assists each. Shae Bruess and Lindsey Atchison had 16 digs apiece.

"I'm glad we played the way we did," DeBoer said. "We didn't go in there looking to lose."
Buffalo, the No. 6 seed, plays at No. 3 Shakopee Friday in the quarterfinals.
