WILLMAR -- The Willmar girls basketball team got immediate revenge on St. Cloud Tech Thursday, beating the Tigers 57-48 in Central Lakes Conference game.

The Cardinals (9-5, 10-7) lost to the Tigers (7-7, 10-10) 68-55 in St. Cloud two days earlier.

"The kids wanted to get the bad taste out of their mouths from Tuesday night," said Willmar coach Brad Atchison.

Willmar had trouble containing Tech's Annessa Rosch and Bobbie Bohlig two days ago, but Thursday it was able to hold the duo to 24 points.

"We made a few adjustments defensively and did a much better job," Atchison explained.

Offensively, the Cardinals had much the same output. Shantel Kelly led the way with 16 points, followed by Sara Kallhoff with 13 and Carrie Boike with 10. Kelly also grabbed eight rebounds. Kayli Gimse had seven steals, dished out six assists and blocked three shots.

Also in Willmar's favor was the trips to the free-throw line. The Cardinals sank 17 of 27.

"We talked about going to the basket and being aggressive. We told our players that we needed to get to the basket," said Atchison.

Rosch paced the Tigers with 16 points and Kaila Burroughs had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
