HUTCHINSON -- To no one's surprise, Hutch-inson manhandled the Willmar Cardinals on Saturday afternoon in Section 2AAAA football.
It was just that the Tigers made it look so darn easy.
The Tigers' senior tailback, Jaeden Scott, covered 70 yards in two rushes on the game's first possession for the first of his five touchdowns in a 48-14 rout.
"Obviously, we didn't show up today," said defensive end Patrick Schueller, one of eight seniors who played their final game. "We worked hard all year. This is not the way you want it to end."
The scoring differential pointed out the physical disparity, especially along the line.

"Physically, they were stronger than us," said senior linebacker Zach Cordes. "You could tell they've been in the weight room more than us. We were simply outplayed, though I think the talent is about even."
Hutchinson, a powerhouse for decades, was much bigger and had a nucleus of 24 seniors.
Often trailing 230-pound fullback Jacob Brusehaver into the hole, Scott finished with 278 yards. The Tigers totaled 396 yards without passing.
Down 35-0 starting the third quarter, Willmar marched 55 yards in 14 plays to score on a Mark Dunham pass to the corner of the end zone to Taylor Filipek covering 14 yards. A 35-yard Jeremy Schendel kickoff return set the stage.
Dunham later threw to wideout Ryan Lawler over the middle for a nine-yard TD.
Dunham threw for 206 yards to finish with his senior season with 1,920 yards and 15 touchdowns. Lawler, a junior, had his third straight 100-yard game.
It didn't help that Willmar was short two starting linemen. Cole Christopher was ill and Jeff Duininck had a knee injury.
And four starters were lost in the second half to injury, including running back Grant Schow. He went out on the first series with a lower leg injury.
