WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals overcame two New London-Spicer home runs to spill the Wildcats Monday at Bill Taunton Stadium, 15-11.

The Cardinals got three hits each from Jake Rambow and Dean Stier and used 10 walks off four Wildcat pitchers to roll to their fourth straight win.

NLS (8-9) played a competitive ballgame despite four starters not in uniform.

A 20-30 mph south wind blowing to left field made every popup or outfield fly an adventure.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 6-0 lead as the scoreboard registered 96 degrees. The Wildcats heated up in the third inning, posting seven runs off Stier to edge in front.

Brandon Lang singled in one run and Jon Haverly hit an opposite-field single for two more. Andrew Clancy followed with a three-run homer to left-center field for a 7-6 lead.

Willmar tied it in the bottom of the third when Jake Damhof tripled and came home on Austin Adamson's single.

The Cardinals scored four in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

The Wildcats' six-hit, four-run seventh off winning pitcher Nathanial Swoyer was highlighted by Mitch Ejnik's two-run homer, also over the fence in left-center.

Josh Edwardson, who pitched into the fifth inning, took the loss for NLS.
