Willmar Stingers complete roster with four signings

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Stingers have put the finishing touches on their roster, signing four more players on Tuesday.

Jeff Barto of Western Nevada College, Bryan Wilson of Central Arkansas, Cedric Pomerlee of Alcorn State and Zach Rowles of Minnesota State, Mankato round out the squad.

The Stingers now have 26 players under contract. The season and home opener on June 3 against the St. Cloud River Bats at Bill Taunton Stadium. Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Twin Paul Molitor is scheduled to throw out the first pitch.

Barto, a native of Boise, Idaho, is a sophomore left-handed pitcher who is 2-0 with a 3.41 ERA for Western Nevada College.

Wilson is a sophomore third baseman/pitcher. He was named the Western State Conference Player of the Year last year with Oxnard Community College when he batted .331 with five home runs and 35 RBI. He will transfer to Central Arkansas next fall.

Pomerlee, a junior left-handed pitcher, had made 14 appearances this season for Alcorn State. He has started 12 games and has a 5.43 ERA. He was a 37th-round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Rowles, a junior infielder, is batting .397 with 25 doubles in 57 games this season for the Mavericks. He also has stolen 28 bases in 31 attempts.
