WILLMAR — Drey Dirksen and Caleb Ditmarson hit home runs and Jayden Dierenfeld and Andy Schultz both drove in a pair of runs as Willmar defeated Marshall 9-3 on Monday.

Ditmarson had two hits and drove in three runs and Dirksen also had two hits and scored three runs. Jack Roehl also had two hits

Tanner Bauman worked four innings of hitless relief and struck out eight to get the win.

Marshall opened a big lead early in the game and Willmar VFW Post 1639 couldn’t generate the offense to stay close in a 9-3 loss on Monday in Marshall.

Marshall scored twice in both the first and second innings, then put the game on ice with a four-run third.

Willmar’s Sam Raitz had two hits and drove in a run and Zach Schultz and Andrew Baumgart drove in Post 1639’s other runs.

Ian Koosman stopped the Marshall scoring train, allowing a run on three hits in 3-2/3 innings of relief.
