WILLMAR -- Andrew Bangen used his change-up like a dagger to cut down Alexandria 6-0 in District 7, Division 1 Legion baseball on Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar.
Bangen, who will be a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, to get 15 outs on ground balls.
"Andrew threw outs," said coach Wade Adamson. "He threw his change-up about 40 percent and that made his fastball look like it was 90 mph."
Bangen struck out just two and walked one.
Some sharp fielding kept Alexandria from unfurling their sails, such as two double plays in the first four innings and an over-the-shoulder catch by leftfielder Derrick Loiselle in the seventh. Catcher Jason Gunvalson threw out Chris Vogeley, the Alex leadoff batter, trying to steal in the sixth.

Ryan Horning and Austin Adamson had two hits each for Post 167, each with a double. Dean Stier also doubled and scored twice.
Willmar (2-0, 8-4) is back at Baker today to host Montevideo at 5:30 p.m.
