MINNEAPOLIS -- Willmar senior Alissa Tinklenberg will conclude her six-year varsity career by swimming in two championship heats today at the state Class A Swimming and Diving Meet.
Tinklenberg posted the third fastest time in the 500-yard freestyle and the fourth fastest in the 100-yard backstroke in Friday's preliminaries at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
In both races, Tinklenberg was able to lower her own school-record time.
Litchfield eighth-grader Marissa Warren qualified for today's consolation heat in the 100 butterfly.
Willmar and Litchfield each had a quartet that fell short of advancing in the 200-yard medley relay.

Tinklenberg cut three-plus seconds off her 500 seed time with a time of 5:14.57. She also lowered her backstroke section time, which was a new school record, by 1.24 seconds with a time of 59.03.
Warren also competed in the 200 individual medley swimming a 2:21.86 to place 27th.
The Willmar 200 medley relay of Tinklenberg, Emily Zondervan, Anna Fuglestad and Aleasha Blokzyl swam 1:56.39 to place 22nd. The Dragons' team of Hannah Walsh, Kjerstin Meyer, Kaytlin Borg and Warren was 24th with a time of 1:57.49.
The first-day standout was Sartell freshman Marisa Wood, who set two individual records and was on two relays that set meet records. Wood went 1:50.88 in the 200 freestyle and 4:56.20 in the 500 freestyle to post new Class A standards.
The Class A finals in swimming and diving start at noon today.
