WILLMAR - The Ridgewater women’s basketball team found out first-hand why their quest for a MCAC playoff spot might be only the beginning of a hard road to a league championship.
Southern Division leader Anoka-Ramsey played a strong defensive game and defeated the Warriors 67-48 on Wednesday night at the Ridgewater gym.
Anoka-Ramsey leads the division with a 10-1 mark - and a 20-5 overall record - while the Warriors fell to 4-7 and still at least a game out of the division’s fourth and final playoff spot.
The Warriors shot just 31 percent from the field and made just 15 shots.
Anoka-Ramsey led by 10 at halftime and had the lead up to 22 points at one point in the second half.
Jessica Kalenberg led the Warriors with 12 points and Lynsey Runke had 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Warriors play their final regular-season game Saturday at M State-Fergus Falls.
