Women's basketball: Warriors one win away from 13A tournament

WILLMAR - The Ridgewater Warriors will host Fox Valley (Wis.) Tech at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the winning team advancing to the NJCAA Region 13A Tournament Saturday at Anoka-Ramsey.

The Warriors could have reserved a spot by winning their finale Saturday but instead fell to visiting M State Fergus Falls 83-70.

That left them in a tie for third with Western (Wis.) Tech. The Cavaliers won the coin flip taking the third seed.

That put Ridgewater at No. 4, a spot designated for a playoff with the Wisconsin juco independent. Wednesday’s winner gets No. 1 seed on the Golden Rams’ home court in Coon Rapids.

“Our shooting was terrible [33 percent] and we played timid,” said coach Carrie Ogdahl.
