Wrestling: Falcons fetch fourth seed at state

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City earned the fourth seed in the Class A state wrestling tournament, the Minnesota State High School League announced on Tuesday.

Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City earned the fourth seed in the Class A state wrestling tournament, the Minnesota State High School League announced on Tuesday.

The Section 4A champion Falcons will open the tournament against fifth-seeded Badger/Greenbush-Middle River at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. ACGC dominated the section tournament last Friday, capping off the day with a 56-10 state-clinching victory over Kimball in the finals.

The Section 8A champions, the Gators were the No. 2 seed in its section and upset top-seeded Frazee 31-30 in the finals to reach state for the first time since 2012.

Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville was named Class A's top seed, followed by Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, Kenyon-Wanamingo, ACGC and B/G-MR. Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie, Aitkin and Goodhue were unseeded.
