Zosel's layup in final seconds gives Tigers an OT victory

MONTEVIDEO -- Jacob Zosel scored 30 points including a layup with 1.3 seconds remaining to guide his Morris/Chokio-Alberta Tigers to a 70-68 victory over Montevideo in triple overtime Thursday night.

The Tigers led 34-24 at halftime but the Thunder Hawks played shutdown defesne in the second half to tie the game up at the end of regulation. The two teams traded points back and forth in the first and second overtime period but it was Zosel's layup in the third overtime that decided the game.

Montevideo's Isaac Douglas, who scored 14 points, attempted a three-pointer as the buzzer expired but just missed.

Travis Dreyer led the Thunder Hawks with 18 points and nine rebounds, closely followed by Riley Emery's 17 points and seven rebounds.

Aside from Zosel, Camden Arndt made an impression for the Tigers, scoring 16 points.

Melrose 82, Benson 60

Benson couldn't stop a strong shooting streak from Melrose, which ultimately ended up being the Braves' downfall on Thursday in Melrose.

The Dutchmen shot more three-pointers than two-pointers and it proved to work for them as they hit 40 percent from beyond-the-arc. Melrose also was 53 percent from the field.

Dillon Haider scored 19 points for the Dutchmen, tied with Benson's Max Peterson who also scored 19.

Melrose featured scoring up and down the lineup, though, as 12 different Dutchmen made it onto the scoresheet.
