The lights at Baker Field in Willmar are in need of replacement. Willmar Public Works is recommending the City Council approve the nearly $300,000 project for this fall even though the project is not currently in the 2018 capital improvement plan. A decision is expected Monday.

The Willmar School District said no programs will be cut when the district again establishes an independent community education department this fall. The city of Willmar will again take over its own recreation activities.

The reconstruction project on 14th Street Southeast, from the south to Trott Avenue in Willmar, along with nearby 13th, 15th and 16th streets, will be added to this year's street improvements. The projects were removed from the original plan after bond funding came up short, but were added back in by the city council on Monday.
