The Spicer Ice Castle was built last weekend in preparation for Spicer Winterfest, which kicks off in earnest this weekend. A lighting ceremony at the castle is set for Saturday evening, followed by celebratory fireworks.

The cast of the “The Wizard of Oz” performs Wednesday in the new Performing Arts Center in New London-Spicer High School. A new endowment fund has been launched to support arts programming in the district, and a $100,000 matching grant was announced after Thursday's performance.

The husband and wife folk singing duo Curtis & Loretta will be performing Saturday night at The Barn Theatre in downtown Willmar. One of the songs they will be performing is the "Willmar 8 (We Are All Equal You Know)", written about the Willmar 8 bank strike. Curtis & Loretta is made up of Curtis Teague and Loretta Simonet.
