Ice and debris float down the Minnesota River at Montevideo on Sunday afternoon below the U.S. Highway 212 bridge . The river was predicted to top flood stage of 14 feet overnight. Major flooding at 17.5 feet and above is expected sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The city of Benson has contracted to have an excavator at the ready to remove ice should it jam against the pylons of this BNSF Railway bridge over the Chippewa River on the city's west side. An ice jam could back up water in a residential area with 26 homes.

Mark Hughes of Danvers was among citizens who voiced opposition Tuesday to a proposed building project in Swift County. An estimated 50 citizens attended the meeting of the Board of Commissioners at which the commissioners voted 3-2 to have an architect develop schematic plans for an addition on the courthouse grounds in Benson.
