A planned improvement project at Willmar's Northeast Water Treatment Plant was estimated to cost about $8.5 million and now looks like it will cost around $14 million. Willmar Municipal Utilities will go back to the drawing board to address ammonia levels at the plant.

A 3,200-ton coal pile sits Monday behind the Willmar Power Plant. The Willmar Municipal Utilities Commission agreed Monday with the staff recommendation to sell the remaining coal as it is no longer needed as a backup fuel source.

Willmar Municipal Utilities employees move rebuilt steam turbine No. 3 back into the utility's downtown power plant. The turbine receives repair and maintenance every five years. Officials hope the turbine, which is used to generate electric energy for the city, would return to service today or Friday. Submitted
