JH LLC plans to start construction this spring of the first building in its planned four-building apartment complex in Willmar. The Willmar City Council approved tax increment finacing for the project at Monday's council meeting. The complex will be located on 15 acres on Kandiyohi County Road 5, north of Seventh Avenue Northwest.

Newly elected Willmar City Councilor Vicki Davis is sworn in Monday at the first council meeting of the year at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services building. Davis replaces longtime council member Ron Christianson, who decided not to run for a sixth term representing Ward 2. At right is Andrew Plowman, who was re-elected in November.

The dugouts at Bill Taunton Stadium, home of the Willmar Stingers, are in need of repair. The Willmar City Council has approved a renovation project, which will be paid for, in part, by the Willmar Baseball Association.

A restroom, a long with a dressing room and picnic shelter, are one of the few public covered areas at Robbins Island Park. The city of Willmar plans to construct a four-season shelter at the park for public access.

The Willmar Wye project master agreement was approved Monday evening by the Willmar City Council. The project will allow trains to travel between the Marshall and Morris subdivision without having to come into downtown Willmar and change engines. This should reduce traffic disruptions and train noise.
