With 61 percent of the vote on Nov. 6, the Invest in Willmar local option sales tax passed its first electoral hurdle. The Willmar City Council and Invest in Willmar leadership team agreed this week to pursue state approval early in the legislative session.

The city of Willmar officially completed a purchase agreement with a development company for land between Trott Avenue and Willmar Avenue Southwest on the west side of Kandiyohi County Road 5 in Willmar. A package sorting and distribution facility is to be built by a logistics company that so far has not been named publicly.

Biking enthusiasts will have another option next year in Willmar: renting bikes from hubs located across the city. The Willmar City Council has approved an agreement with Koloni, a bike share business based in Iowa.
