A jury in Hibbing reached the verdict Tuesday in the case of Michael Carbo Jr., more than 36 years after Nancy Daugherty was raped and killed.
A Renville man was sentenced to 150 months for a second-degree murder conviction. He told law enforcement at the time that he shot the victim after he attacked another man while the three were drinking Aug. 5 of last year.
Deja Denise Padilla, 19, of Montevideo, has been arrested in connection with the overdose death of an individual in Renville County in November 2021. The medical examiner said the toxic effects of methamphetamine and fentanyl were the cause of death. Padilla has been charged with murder in the third degree, for allegedly supplying the fentanyl that caused the individual’s death.
