Tractor burns near Grove City, operator escapes injury

GROVE CITY -- The operator of a tractor was able to escape from the burning John Deere before the $300,000 machine burned Monday.

According to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff's office, the Grove City Fire Department was dispatched Monday to a tractor fire near the intersection of 300th Street and 560th Avenue, in Swede Grove Township.

Upon the fire department's arrival, the tractor was fully engulfed in flames. The owner of the tractor was Wesemen Brothers Farms of Grove City. The operator was able to escape without injuries, but was unable to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.

The tractor was a 2002 9520 4-wheel drive John Deere and was valued at $300,000. The chisel plow that was attached was not damaged.
