BENSON -- A proposal by the Swift County-Benson Hospital to build a 75-unit senior housing facility attached to the hospital, with potential financial backing from the county and city, will be debated by all three entities during a joint meeting next week. Over the last couple months, the project has been discussed at separate meetings of the Swift County Board, the Benson City Council and the hospital’s board of directors.
GRANITE FALLS -- After major storms hit western Minnesota on Saturday, the cities of Granite Falls and Montevideo were tasked with cleaning up the damage. By all accounts, the cleanup has gone well. City officials said widespread power outages are almost completely remedied, and cleanup of trees and branches is well underway.
A family-owned business with 100 years under its belt is preparing for the next century. Hanson Silo Company, a fourth-generation business in rural Lake Lillian, will celebrate its centennial during an open house June 16. Since 1916 when their silos — with the family’s trademark black-and-white checkered blocks at the top -- began towering over area farms, Hanson Silo Company has changed through the years and generations to remain a viable company long after their competition disappeared.
