LAKE LILLIAN – Two people escaped injuries Friday night when the vehicle they were in plunged through the ice on the north side of Lake Lillian lake. According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, at around 6:53 p.m. a vehicle was pulling a fish house when it went through the ice. The fish house prevented the vehicle from being completely submerged. The driver and a passenger were able to get out of the vehicle without assistance and were not injured.
SPICER – The names of the individuals involved with a two-vehicle fatal crash Thursday near Spicer have been released. The driver who died at the scene was identified as Joshua Adam Torgeson, 42, of Shakopee. The driver of the other vehicle was Traci Jo Jacobs, 40, of New London, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
BIRD ISLAND – An Olivia woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Renville County. The accident was reported at 7:38 a.m. on U.S. Highway 212, one mile west of Bird Island. According to the State Patrol, a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Kassandra Jean Ervin, 26, of Olivia, was going east on Highway 212 when Ervin lost control of the vehicle, which then crossed the westbound lane and rolled into the north ditch.
NEW LONDON – A house fire was reported around 9:19 a.m. Thursday at a home on the 6000 block of 191st Avenue Northeast in New London. Called to the scene were the New London Fire Department, New London Ambulance and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office. No additional information was immediately available.

KERKHOVEN – A Willmar man is dead following a one-vehicle crash Sunday night when his vehicle became airborne and collided with a commercial building in Kerkhoven. The crash was reported at 4:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12 near 15th Street North. According to a news release from the Swift County Sheriff’s Office Shane Mitchell Broten, 48, was traveling east on Highway 12 when the vehicle went off the roadway and into the north ditch towards 15th Street.
BARRON, WISCONSIN – The Jennie-O Turkey Store is recalling more than 91,000 pounds of raw ground turkey that has been linked with an outbreak of salmonella. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation involving 164 cases of salmonella in 35 states.
FRANKLIN – A man was seriously injured Friday morning in a farm accident in Renville County when his arm was trapped in a power take-off shaft. The victim was identified as Chad A. Noethe, 47, of Courtland. According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at around 10 a.m. at a hog barn in the 41000 block of 660th Avenue in Bandon Township, about two miles northeast of Franklin.
MONTEVIDEO – Montevideo City Council members are instructing City Manager Steve Jones and Assistant City Manager Angie Steinbach to present them with a succession plan at their next meeting.
